Thomas Poulton or Pulton (1697-1749) was born in Northamptonshire, England, and made his humanities studies at the Jesuit College of St. Omer, entering the Society of Jesus in 1716. In 1738 he was sent to the Maryland Mission where he eventually became Superior (1740-). This folder contains a bound manuscript entitled "Tractus de Horographia," covering astronomical and horography or the art of constructing time-keeping instruments (c. 1728).
