Sixty-three folders of correspondence constitute this series. Arranged alphabetically by name, correspondents include governors/presidents of Panama, U.S. ministers, consuls and officials to Panama, as well as prominent officers of the Panama Railroad Company. In addition, there is a folder of envelopes addressed to EAD with personalized franks from numerous US congressmen - where identifiable, these are listed by name in the folder description.
The Barnes Collection is the photographic morgue file of the Barnes Company, which specialized in the production of albums reproducing the faces and giving capsule biographies of members of Congress during the latter part of the nineteenth century. The collection includes 501 imperial carte de visite photographs, principally of members of Congress from 1872 to 1876, many of the photographs being embellished by added signatures trimmed from letters or other documents.
Series 3 consists of chronological correspondence of John L. Brown from 1932 through 1974. The correspondence is arranged in chronological order. In each folder, both correspondents writing to Brown and correspondents receiving letters from Brown are listed.
