In 1741, Jesuit missionaries established a House at Conewago in Adams County, Pennsylvania, a strategic location that allowed them to surround the boundaries between the colonies of Maryland and Pennsylvania.

Scope and Contents Francis Dzierozynski (1779-1850) was born in Orsha, Russia (now Belarus), and entered the Society of Jesus in 1794. After being ordained in 1806 he was a teacher in Polotskand Mogilev until the expulsion of the Jesuits from the Russian Empire in 1820.
