Jenkins, Thomas M., 1848 - 1853

Scope and Contents Thomas M. Jenkins (1818-1850) entered the Society in 1834 and was subsequently at Georgetown College (1840-1849) while simultaneously serving Holy Trinity. He was then sent to Brazil where he died of yellow fever in 1850. An aspiring astronomer, Jenkins gave Georgetown College $8,000--inherited upon his mother's death--to fund the observatory.
