Collection-level Scope and Content Note From the Collection: The William Robinson, Jr. Papers contain retained letterbook copies of letters concerning Robinson's mission in 1842 to obtain a loan in Europe on behalf of the United States. Several letters by U.S. President John Tyler are present, and they deal with Robinson's appointment, the authorization for the loan, and notification of American envoys in Europe of Robinson's quest.
