This box contains material on the early period of EBM's political career as RR Commissioner, state senator, and his successful bid for election to U.S. Senate from Texas in 1922. Proceedings dealing with the Corsicana case start in this box and continue into Box 5.
This box comprises materials on the proceedings of the Corsicana case in which he had to declare that his election was free from any KKK monetary support. George B. Peddy charged Mayfield also with tampering with votes, etc. during the election. This case reached Senate Hearings in 1924.
