The collection consists of the records of the Georgetown Ignatian Society and documents their efforts to have Georgetown University formally declared "un-Catholic" for their recognition of a pro-choice student group (GU Choice) and other offenses in the 1990s. Abstract

The collection documents 43 meetings of the National Commission for the Protection of Human Subjects of Biomedical and Behavioral Research held between 1974 and 1978 and includes briefing books, subject files, and transcripts from these meetings. The Executive’s Branch of the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare established the group in 1974 and it is considered one of the first modern bioethics commissions.

The collection consists of records related to the President's Biomedical Research Panel (PBRP), including its final report (with Appendix A and C), the Analysis of Selected Biomedical Research Programs (2 volumes), and summary meeting minutes (1975-1976). The records belonged to Kathryn Arnow, who was a health policy analyst and Chief of the Program Planning Branch in the office of the Director of the National Institutes of Health in the 1970s.

This collection contains thirteen letters of the correspondence between the Trappist monk Thomas Merton (1915-1968) and the writer, artist, and photographer Edward Rice (1918- ), written between the years 1959-1967.

Found in Notes:  His friend Jim Forest of 'The Catholic Worker,' and a friend of Thomas Merton's, referred to this period in Merton's life as one when he reentered the world from his previous cloistered existence in the monastery at Gethsemani and, through his writings, became actively engaged in advancing the public discourse on the great moral issues of that age. It certainly was his most prolific, with Merton producing scores of articles, reviews, and books, along with maintaining a large correspondence.
