Dennis Ryan (1828-1846) was born in County Limerick, Ireland, and entered the Society of Jesus at Frederick in 1844. He died shortly after in 1846 at Georgetown College. This folder includes a bound notebook containing "Rhetoricae Elementa" and "Compositions: The Influence of Moral Character," written while at St. John's Literary Institution (now known as St. John's Catholic Prep) in Buckeystown, Maryland (1843-1844).
