Scope and Contents note The Jones-Donner collection contains twelve letters to Pamela Donner, one of Jones' many personal friends, dated from January 9, 1961 - May 11, 1974. Most of these letters were written in 1961 and 1962 at Northwick Lodge, Harrow-on-the-Hill. Two were written during Jones' residence at Montesdene Hotel, and the last letter in the collection was written at Calvary Nursing Home. Jones, James H., Collection on David Vetter

Abstract

The collection primarily consists of interviews conducted by James H. Jones with medical professionals who were responsible for the care of David Vetter. Vetter suffered from severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID) and was popularly known as the "Bubble Boy." The interviews were conducted in 2001 for a book that was ultimately not completed. Additionally, the collection contains audiovisual materials and photographs related to Vetter.

Scope and Contents

A bound manuscript on paper containing a copy of Swinburne's "A Ballad of Life" written and bound by British artist Allan Gwynne-Jones in September of 1909. The text is written in black ink a faux-medieval calligraphic style with the opening words of each stanza in gold. The binding is of stiff vellum with green silk ties, now somewhat faded and damaged. 8 leaves plus some blanks.

The Walter Shewring Papers is a small collection of letters, essays and manuscripts by Shewring. The most notable item is the full autograph manuscript of Shewring's translation of Homer's "Odyssey," published by the Oxford University Press (1980).
