The playbill collection, donated by Valerie Lynn, is comprised of playbills and other theatre ephemera, pamphlets from various art exhibitions, and programs from musical performances and ballets collected over her lifetime. The collection spans seven decades, from 1946 to 2009, and includes playbills from at least five different countries.

George William Curtis, 1875 - 1880
Five letters in the hand of American writer and political activist George William Curtis, dated between 1875 and 1880. The contents are generally brief responses to invitations or similar, addressed to anonymous recipients Mr. Harker, Mr. Babbitt, and Mr. Drummond, as well as Senator Henry B. Anthony of Rhode Island (1815-1884) and noted lawyer and author Arthur G. Sedgwick (1844-1915). The Babbitt letter has been mounted on a later piece of paper.

Letters concern: “conditions” for students entering Georgetown, including tuition in gourdes, a Haitian currency (1820, in French); a debt for $449 owed by a family in New Iberia, Louisiana (1826, in French); the miraculous cure of Sister Stanislaus of breast cancer (written to Henry Daingerfield of Alexandria, 1838); the religious studies of John Roach of Alexandria (written to Roach, from Italy, 1842).
