Found in Notes:  From 1916 through 1923 she worked and traveled in Corsica, Japan, China, Tahiti, and France. In 1924 she divorced. Two years later, she closed her Chicago studio and moved to New York City where she continued her work.

Charles Guiteau Collection

Scope and Contents

The Charles J. Guiteau collection consists of correspondence, affidavits and printed material by and about Guiteau, the notorious attorney who assassinated U.S. President James Abram Garfield on July 2, 1881. The assassination resulted in one of the most celebrated American 'insanity trials' of the nineteenth century, which became something of a legal milestone in the judgement of the criminally insane.

Found in Notes:  He called upon his brother-in-law, George Scoville, who had married his sister Frances. After the death of their mother, Frances had practically raised her younger brother, and was to provide him often with both moral and financial support throughout his life.

Edward Jackson, Jr. Papers

Shusaku Endo papers

Scope and Content note

The Shusaku Endo papers include manuscript drafts of Endo's novels "The Samurai" and "Scandal," a short story draft, and an as-yet unidentified draft. Evident in the manuscripts are Endo's corrections and notations, the additions and revisions he occasionally taped to existing manuscripts, and the work of his secretary to transcribe a clean version of the draft for later review.

Found in Notes:  He studied at Keio University and in Lyons, France, where he studied the writing of French Catholic authors.
