This series is composed primarily of personal messages from HLH's friends and colleagues. Correspondence is arranged chronologically and also by subject. The latter category includes correspondence to HLH re. social engagement items such as invitations to semi-official events, re. HLH's Distinguished Service Medal award, re. Grinnell College, re. resignation as Secretary of Commerce in 1940, and re. his final retirement from government service in 1945. (Box 4, Folders 1-13)

Contains correspondence, manuscripts, transcripts, and other documents pertaining to U.S. Catholic Church History. Boxes 12 and 13, which deal with notable individuals in U.S. Catholic History, are arranged alphabetically by last name of individual. Boxes 14 through 20 contain documents which focus on the history of Catholicism in particular geographic places in America, and they are arranged alphabetically by geographic area.
The second meeting, held in Rio de Janeiro. The goal of the Commission was the codification of international public and private law in order to develope better relations among nations. The first meeting had been held in 1912; the second meeting was delayed until 1927.
