The Emmet F. Riordan Papers contain typed manuscripts of his novels, including "America's Dirge", "Between Kisses", "Copper Stain", "Headwaters", "No-Score-Game", and "Purse Badges." Also included in this collection are several letters to Riordan from his publishing company, E.P. Dutton and Co., Inc., regarding his manuscripts.
One map titled "Lower Mesopotamia" printed in Dehradun, India, by the Survey of India in 1914. One of 500 printed copies that were issued to British staff officers on the eve of the Mesopotamian Campaign and the invasion of Ottoman Iraq. It depicts central and southern Iraq, Kuwait, southwestern Persia, and the head of the Arabian Gulf.

The John Dooley, SJ Papers contain reminiscences written between 1865 and 1873 detailing his service as a Confederate soldier in the First Virginia Infantry Regiment (1862-1863) and subsequent imprisonment at Fort McHenry and Johnson’s Island (1863-1865). Also includes an essay he wrote on secession (circa 1861), poetry (1870-1873), and a few pieces of correspondence (1860-1909). Materials are arranged in a rough chronological order except for the bound reminiscences in folder 8.
Collection of over 200 letters written by and to Washington, D.C. resident Charles W. Umbaugh, dating from 1941 to 1944. Umbaugh served stateside during World War II, first in an Army hospital and then later in the Army Air Corp. The letters document Umbaugh's experiences in the armed services as well as his family's experience as civilians on the homefront during the second World War.
Collection of 380 letters written by Lt. Charles Murray Foster to his family while he served in the 1st Battalion of the 114th Infantry Regiment of the United States Army during World War II. It includes letters written when he was stateside (1942-1944) and while in France (1944-1945). 25 letters feature sketches by Foster, usually depicting other soldiers and scenes he observed while serving in France (collected in Binder 4).
