Found in Notes:  As a result, Greene was moved to protest the decision by returning his award as Chevalier de la Legion d'Honneur to the French government, and then to appeal to Alain Peyrefitte, minister of justice under the former President Valery Giscard d'Estaing, as well as to write a brief polemic entitled, "J'Accuse," an echo of the famous one by Emile Zola on the Alfred Dreyfus affair almost a century ago.
