The collection includes manuscripts of Egan's published collections, including, "Midland," "Leaves," "Siege!," "Woodcutter," "Athlone?" "Seeing Double," and "Snapdragon." Manuscripts for unpublished early poems from 1966-1977 are included, together with special publications of Egan's poems for posters and calendars.

Found in Notes:  The "Collected Poems of Desmond Egan" was also published in 1983.

Beginning in 1982, Egan made numerous trips to the United States to read his own works as well as to lecture on Ezra Pound.

Found in Notes:  In the intervening years, he was minister and prefect of studies at Canisius College (Buffalo, 1913-1915) and, from 1919 to 1922, he served as superior at Keyser Island. Beginning in 1922 he was procurator and spiritual father at Weston College and died at the College of the Holy Cross (Worcester) in 1923.

Found in Notes:  In 1941, Guthe transferred to the Department of State, Division of Geography and Cartography, where he assumed the role of Assistant Chief of the division. This was the beginning of his administrative career. From here he eventually became Chief of the Map Intelligence Division of the Department of State.

This Minister was probably a Central American diplomat in Europe, possibly Peralta. The letter which Chevalier eventually sent to Chamorro is also in the collection. In addition to the 121 letters and postcards, the collection contains a typed manuscript for the book An Impossible Woman: The Memories of Dottoressa Moor of Capri, edited and adapted by Greene and later given with an inscription to Cloetta. Leopoldo Duran Papers

Scope and Contents The collection primarily contains correspondence from Graham Greene to Leopoldo Duran (1964-1990). It also includes correspondence from Vivien Greene, Hugh Greene (brother) and Elizabeth Dennys (sister). Of note is a common place book containing autograph entries by Greene dating from the late 1970s. This was a gift from Duran whose intention was for Greene to jot down notes about his readings and thoughts. Nicknamed "the Picasso" by Duran who conceived the idea after a visit to the Picasso...

Found in Notes:  Two years later, Greene contacted him for lunch at the Ritz in London which began a friendship lasting eighteen years.

Over a decade beginning in 1976, Duran and Greene embarked on a series of annual holidays through Spain ranging from retreats to Oseira Monastery, visits to the grave of Spanish philosopher Miguel de Unamuno y Jugo (1864-1936), but primarily to vineyards where they sampled the wines.

Taraknath Das papers

The Taraknath Das Papers are contained in the John J. Meng Papers. Other papers from the Taraknath Das Foundation, as well as correspondence between Meng and Das, are also located in the Meng papers. Material in this collection span the years 1932 to 1940 and relate to Das' work "Indien in der Weltpolitick." Manuscripts for articles and papers by Das are included.

Found in Notes:  Das belonged to both India and to the U.S. and obtained U.S. citizenship around the beginning of the First World War which the U.S. government later tried to take away from him because he was a convicted felon and suspected because of his great hostility to the British Empire.

A set of bound notes derived from scholarly lectures on a variety of mathematical and scientific topics--such as trigonometry, algebra, geometry, and physics--written down by Fr. Henry Neale, likely while pursuing studies at Liège in the 1720s and 1730s. Of note are numerous fold-out illustrations.

Found in Notes:  Joseph Greaton at Old St. Joseph's Church beginning in 1741. Neale chose Lancaster as a promising center for future missions and purchased two lots of land in 1742; later, in 1747, he also secured land for Goshenhoppen.
