Scope and Contents John William Davis' correspondence encompasses the years in which he served as solicitor general. The major portion of that correspondence deals with letters of endorsement regarding a Supreme Court vacancy; inquiries from citizens seeking positions with the federal government; petitions for military commissions during the war years; and Davis' carbon responses as well. Class notes and other materials relating to Francis E. Lucey, S.J.'s career as a professor in, and Regent of, the Georgetown University Law School from 1928 to 1961. Scope and Contents

Autograph manuscripts include the lecture series “History and Development of Constitutional and Civil Liberty.” The collection also contains additional lectures on law, as well as notebooks. Also, obituary notices, funeral cards, and file on the Morris Medal, founded eponymously in 1875. Included are photocopies of letters to Georgetown College president, J. Havens Richards, S.J., re Morris (dated 1889-1909).

Scope and content note This collection consists of the letters and legal documents of John Popkin Adams (1812-1856), his wife, and daughters. The material relates to Adams' work as U.S. consul at La Guaira, Venezuela, his efforts to establish an inter-oceanic railroad on the ithsmus of Panama, land speculation in the U.S., and his pursuit of monetary claims against Venezuela, Colombia, and Ecuador related to privateering during the Spanish American wars of independence. Scope and contents note The papers of Baron Robert Silvercruys consist of letters, manuscripts, pamphlets and clippings mainly concerning the careers of Frantz Silvercruys (1859 - 1936), President of the Court of Cassation of Belgium and created Baron Silvercruys in 1929, and of his son, Robert Silvercruys (1893 - 1971), who was a Belgian Ambassador to the United States (1946 - 1959).
