Scope and Contents The Leonard S. Wilson Papers contain maps and other documents deriving from the work of Leonard S. Wilson, a longtime geology professor who worked in the Map Division of the Research and Analysis Branch of the Office of Strategic Services (OSS) during World War II. Scope and Contents Four-page handwritten letter on USO letterhead from Charles R. Winthrop to his wife Mary Winthrop. At the time Winthrop was serving with the 372nd Infantry, a segregated African American regiment then serving in World War II. With original envelope with "Idle Gossip Sinks Ships" stamped to front.
