Scope and Contents A small oblong manuscript volume of songs dated July 20, 1847 made by Thomas Reese, a member of a Marshalltown, Pennsylvania band. Apparently a clarinet, cornet, and possibly fife player, the tunes are mostly marches and quicksteps, including The Star-Spangled Banner, Washington’s March, Hail Columbia, Yankee Doodle, the Boston Quick Step, and the Red, White, and Blue. It includes occasional playing notes and pieces added to the repertoire on inserted leaves, as well as a crude (self?)...
