Scope and Contents Francis Neale (1756-1837) was born in Port Tobacco and attended the Colleges of Bruges and Liège, where he was ordained a priest. Neale returned to the US in 1788 and became pastor at St. Thomas Manor, after which he oversaw the establishment of Holy Trinity in Washington, DC (1790). Neale entered the reorganized Society in 1806 and became acting president of Georgetown College in 1808 and later its president (1809-1812). After his early studies he was at the College of the Holy Cross (Worcester, 1848-1852), Georgetown College (1853-1858) before becoming rector of Loyola College (1860-1863) and rector at Frederick (1863-1869). Basil Pacciarini (1816-1884) was born in Montone (Perugia), Italy, and entered the Society of Jesus there in 1834. In 1846 he traveled to the US and, after missionary work in Maine, he was stationed in Boston and Philadelphia before being at St. Inigoes for twenty years. He was transferred to Fordham in 1882 where he died in 1884. This folder includes a farewell letter (draft) from Paccarini to the St. Joseph's and Mechanicsville parishes before leaving for New York (1882).

Thomas Poulton or Pulton (1697-1749) was born in Northamptonshire, England, and made his humanities studies at the Jesuit College of St. Omer, entering the Society of Jesus in 1716.
