Collection-level Scope and Content Note From the Collection: The American Song Sheet Collection comprises a relatively cohesive group of 234 song sheets published in the United States (and principally in New York, by de Marsan) in the 1850's and during the early years of the Civil War. There are songs of African American interest, a few relating to events in the Civil War, and at least one exploiting a German accented singer.
