Historical Note

Jesuit Education 21, according to the published conference proceedings, was originally discussed as a way to gather the twenty-seven essayists for Promise Renewed: Jesuit Higher Education for a New Millennium and to discuss 1995's General Congregation 34. The idea evolved to become a conference on "the issues and problems that confront Jesuit higher education at the beginning of the new millennium" (Tripole, 2000) and was held over the course of four days at Saint Joseph's University in June 1999.
