Biographical Note
Charles Schertenleib (1905-1972) was born in Paris to Ernest Schertenleib (1877-?) and Lucie Céline Marie Homery (1872-1956, m. 1902). He received BS and MS degrees from Laval University (Quebec), a PhD from the University of Lausanne (1944), and an LLD from the University of Paris. He taught at the Belgium School of Foreign Service, the University of Lausanne, and Loyola University in Montreal before coming to Georgetown University as a visiting professor of economics in 1956, becoming a regular member of the faculty in 1959. Schertenleib was a specialist in managerial economics and public and business administration who was also appointed permanent representative of the principality of Monaco in 1964. He retired from Georgetown in 1971 and died the following year.
