Background Information

The Suez Crisis document is a communique from the famous popular resistance committees that rose up to fight in cities like Port Said during the Suez Crisis. The program commemorating a military parade to mark the anniversary of the 1952 Free Officers' Egyptian revolution is significant in that the honored guest was then-Syrian president Adib al-Shishakli and that the parade took place in the unique period after the Free Officers had risen to power but before the Egyptian Monarchy was officially dissolved. So, it very uniquely bears the emblems of both the Free Officers and the Egyptian Crown.
