Scope and Contents

The collection contains notes, documents, videos, audio recordings, digitized interviews, photographs of the research and reporting of Susan and Joseph Trento for the following books: The Power House (1992), Widows (1989), The Secret History of the CIA (2001), Prelude to Terror (2005), Unsafe at Any Altitude (2006), and America and the Islamic Bomb (2007).

It includes notes, draft proposals, movie treatments, screenplays, and underlying story materials from the unpublished project "The Last President." (This materials is restricted until the death of both Susan and Joseph Trento, or until they agree to open the files)

It also contains research materials for articles and other projects, both published and unpublished.

Finally, the collection includes underlying story materials, such as interviews, videos, and documents, from the Public Education Center (PEC) and its two non-profit news services, the National Security News Service and the Natural Resources News Services, which operated from 1991 through 2017.

Conditions Governing Access

All interviews with Atif Amin regarding America and the Islamic Bomb are restricted from release and cannot be accessed with the express written authorization of either Joseph or Susan Trento. All researchers must honor all interview material that was obtained on background or off-the-record by not disclosing the source or the information as agreed upon at the time of the interview unless the person interviewed is dead. All materials and interviews that were conducted on background or off-the-record will be available to researchers on those conditions. All materials regarding an attempted coup of the Franklin Roosevelt government with the working title "The Last President" are restricted until both Susan and Joseph Trento are dead or until they agree to release the materials earlier.

Researchers are solely responsible for determining the copyright status of the materials being used, establishing who the copyright owner is, locating the copyright owner, and obtaining permission for intended use.
