Mimika Farish Frith Family Papers

Content Description

Collection of correspondence, journals, documents, photographs, and newspaper clippings concerning the family of Mimika Farish Frith. Included is correspondence (9 letters, 1779-1781) from Baron von Steuben to his aide-de-campe Pierre Etienne Du Ponceau and two letters (1781) from Du Ponceau to von Steuben. Also included is a bound journal kept by Du Ponceau from 1794-1820 which served as a family register, diary and account book. Also included is correspondence and documents from the Bauduy, Farish and Sassenay families spanning the period from 1782-1932. Of particular interest is a bound volume of photographs from the Suez Canal, Ceylon, Colombo, Java, Borneo and New Guinea, taken by Frederick G. Farish in 1907.
