This series contains the papers of Georgetown University professor Valerie A. Earle. Series 1 contains material related to Earle's Georgetown University career, including notes and syllabi from courses taught by Earle and others. Series 2 contains written works, both published and drafted, by Earle and her husband, American University professor Chester Earle. Series 3 contains Earle's personal papers, including correspondence, material from political science groups, and family photographs.
Most manuscripts collections at the Booth Family Center for Special Collections are open to researchers; however, restrictions may apply to some collections. Collections stored off-site require a minimum of three days for retrieval. For use of all manuscripts collections, researchers are advised to contact the Booth Family Center for Special Collections in advance of any visit.

Valerie Earle (1918-2004) was a Georgetown professor and the first woman appointed to the faculty of the Business Division in 1955. She also served as the first president of the Faculty Senate and as a member of the Rank and Tenure Committee. She retired as a full-time professor in 1986 but continued teaching until her death in 2004. This collection contains syllabi for classes taught by Earle, as well as correspondence, book proposals, and articles written by Earle and her husband Chester (a professor of law at American University).

Immediate source of acquisition unknown. It's likely that the files were transferred to Georgetown University Library after Earle retired from teaching at Georgetown University in 1986.
