People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran - Protest Collection

Collection — Box: GTM Shared Box 41, Folder: 12
Identifier: GTM-20241122

Scope and Contents

Group of thirty one broadsides and leaflets, connected with armed struggle against the Shah and the Islamic Republic of Iran, circa 1971-1984. Various places, mostly West Berlin: self-published by the People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran, also known as Mojahedin-e-Khalq (MEK).

Thirty one original broadsides and handbills distributed by the People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI) and their sympathizers in Berlin in the 1970s-1980s, such as the Iranische Moslemische Studentenvereinigung West Germany (Muslim Student Association of West Germany) and the Confederation of Iranisch Students (CISNU) in Frankfurt. The group also contains flyers by splinter groups, such as the Iranian People's Fedai Guerrillas and others.

The various broadsides inform about the murders committed against Persian oppositional figures and about terror and repressions against the populace; they express support for Iranian anti-Shah leftist guerilla groups and criticize the West German complicity with the Iranian regime and in particular the collaboration between German intelligence organs and the Iranian SAVAK secret police. They announce various demonstrations, such as on the ten-year anniversary of the death of Benno Ohnesorg during the 1967 Shah visit (June 2, 1977); later broadsides are directed against Khomeini and his allies, with one demonstration in 1984 commemorating the dissident leaders and guerillas Mussa Khiabani and Aschraf Rabii. One item is a sixteen-page periodical issued by the M.S.V., a Muslim student association sympathetic to the People's Mojahedin.
