The collection consists of the papers of Dr. Walter S. Atkinson. Of note is a scrapbook of photographs documenting Atkinson's service in World War II as a Hospital Commander in the Phillipines, where he organized and commanded the 107th Station Hospital. The scrapbook includes images of his fellow soldiers, the local population, aerial views, and a visit from Al Jolson.
The collection also includes childhood portrait photographs, material related to the Georgetown Clinical Society, and photographs of Atkinson later in life.
The scrapbook includes photographs that depict minstrelsy/blackface and includes outdated and offensive terminology.
