The collection contains correspondence, documents, manuscripts, publications, photographs, and newspaper clippings concerning the career of John J. Meng in higher education.
Material is included from Dr. Meng's teaching careers at Catholic University of America, Queens College, and Hunter College, as well as his administrative duties at Hunter College, Fordham University and Marymount College.
In addition to material from numerous educational associations and conferences, files are also included from Meng's chairmanship of the Governor's Task Force on Education in New York, 1974-1975, and from his participation in settling the faculty-administration dispute at St. John's University.

Gift of John J. Meng, 1981. Additional materials were received in 1988. A third set of materials were received sometime between 1988 and 2003. The collection combines the following accessions: GTM-810318, GTM-880101, and GTM-032203.
GTM-810318 was inventoried by Margaret McAleer in December 1980.
