Most manuscripts collections at the Georgetown University Booth Family Center for Special Collections are open to researchers; however, restrictions may apply to some collections. Collections stored off site require a minimum of three days for retrieval. Edgar L. Prochnik (1879-1964) was a member of the Austrian diplomatic corps in the United States from 1905 to 1938. For the years up to 1917, Prochnik was the Austrian consular attache and consul in Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Chicago, and St. Paul. In 1920, he was First Secretary of the Austrian peace commission. From 1921 to 1925, Prochnik held the post of Austrian charge d'affaires in the U.S. He served as Ambassador of Austria to the United States from 1926 to 1938. From 1938 to 1960, Prochnik was a professor in the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service. Edgar L. Prochnik died in 1964.
