Charge sheets, 1935

This finding aid is a partial inventory to the 139-box collection of the Alexis Carrel Papers and a result of the consolidation of two smaller Carrel collections. Materials in the collection largely deal with Carrel’s main subjects of study: cancer and tumor studies, organ transplantation, blood transfusion, and various environmental and diet research done on mice to study sarcoma and other cancers. The majority of the non-research material is Nobel Prize related or incoming correspondence.

Laboratory notebooks and experiment-record and autopsy notecards comprise the bulk of this partial inventory. These detail the results or numerical logs of his experiments, rather than process. Most of these were created by Carrel himself, but there are several others attributed to his research assistants. Also included is correspondence (predominantly incoming), medical articles (written by Carrel and colleagues), and photographs.There is a small section of non-paper materials, which is comprised of microscope slides and some personal effects, like glasses.
