Scope and Contents

A songbook compiled by the novelist Caroline Lucy Scott containing 16 tunes, songs, and dances, half of which are Spanish with the balance being French, English, and Scottish. Dated November 25, 1811, and thus compiled in her first year of marriage to Captain (later Vice Admiral) George Scott, illustrating the common reason why such volumes were created: domestic entertainment. Includes three waltzes composed by a “P.C.W.”
