Contains approximately 275 tunes as well as diagrams of thumb placement and scales for playing the pipes. Also bound in is a transcription of the title and preliminary matter to "A Complete Tutor for the Great Highland Bagpipe…." by Angus MacKay.
An apparently New York-based piper named William Cleland is mentioned in a December 6, 1890, New York Times article as having been the piper at the annual St. Andrew's Society dinner at Delmonico's for the previous 36 years; this piper is likely the author of the present songbook.
