Scope and Contents
17 duets and one solo song, voice parts only. Stationer's ticket on inside of front cover (likely the father of royal organist Jean-Jacques Lebourgeois).
13 songs scored for female voices, 4 for soprano and bass. Composers include Rameau, Colin de Blamont, and Cochereau. The manuscript contains a number of markings--"doux," "fort," "tendrement"--indicating its purpose as a performance copy.
French Baroque airs à boire were light-hearted, occasionally suggestive, songs celebrating the pleasures of wine, meant for entertainment in polite company.
