Pierre Gross's "Notions de musique," bound manuscript, music textbook, 167 pages, France, 1863
Scope and Contents
A textbook of music theory carefully inscribed in an excellent hand, possibly a copy created by a student. Based on searches of OCLC and the catalog of the Bibliotheque Nationale, the text does not appear to have ever been published.
As stated on the title page, Pierre Gross taught music and singing at the École Normale de Strasbourg.
On page [133]: "Terminé en vacances le 30 août 1863. Buda." It is not clear whether "Buda" is the name of the copyist, or whether it refers to the location where the copy was completed, which if so would suggest this could be the autograph original made by Prof. Gross himself.
