Sub-Series 2. Interview recordings, 1973-2010

 Sub-Series

Scope and Contents

Interviews by Larry Suid recorded between 1973 and 2010, begun as his primary research for the first edition of "Guts and Glory". Scope notes for each file indicate any index terms used by Suid and the numbers he assigned to the cassette or cassettes containing interviews. A PDF version of Suid's "Complete Interview List" can be found linked to the homepage of this collection under "External Documents".

All of the interviews were recorded on standard audio cassette tapes, numbered by Suid 1-492. Many of the tapes contain more than one interview, and some interviews span several tapes; specific sides of a tape are designated "a" or "b". In some instances, Suid reused numbers or tapes, or compiled different interviews onto another tape.

The interviews were indexed using "Primary" and "Secondary" terms indicating what industry (such as "government", "film", "Armed Forces Network", "Navy-PA"), role or position (such as "head", "critic", "public affairs", "astronaut"), or subject ("Vietnam", "space", "World War II"). These terms, abbreviated by Suid in his Complete Interview List, are spelled out fully in the finding aid for the sake of searchability.
