Scope and Contents

A small collection of materials related to the British writer and critic Raymond Mortimer. Two letters in his hand addressed to the English publisher and translator Roger Senhouse (1899-1970), one with an envelope dated April 1946; contents personal. Also included is a news clipping from John O’London’s Weekly, a literary magazine, containing a write-up on the Denyse Clairoun Prize, which Mortimer judged. Dated 16 April 1948.

Biographical / Historical

Charles Raymond Bell Mortimer (1895-1980) was a British writer and literary critic. He worked for the New Statesman, The Sunday Times, and the BBC, and was part of the artistic circle including Vita Sackville-West, Benjamin Britten, and Graham Greene.
