Biographical / Historical
Joseph Wood Krutch (1893-1970) was an American author, critic, and naturalist. Krutch served as a professor of English at Columbia University between 1937 and 1952, after which he relocated to Tucson, Arizona and wrote several books on the ecology of the American Southwest. He is further noted for developing a pantheistic philosophy. His wife, Marcelle Krutch (1895-1992), managed his estate following his death in 1970.
