Six pieces of correspondence in the hand of American poet, journalist, and editor William Cullen Bryant. Contents are general, though one contains verses in Spanish, and one is written in French. Dated in the 1850s and 60s.

Biographical / Historical

William Cullen Bryant 91794-1878) was a journalist, editor, and Romantic writer, considered one of the first great American poets. In addition to his literary works, Bryant edited the New-York Review and New-York Evening Post, from which platform he advocated for various liberal causes including labor rights and abolitionism.
