Edward Freiberger, 1890 - 1905

Scope and Contents

This collection comprises approximately 60 letters, as well as drawings, black and white photographs, pamphlets, and other ephemera relating to Chicago journalist and theater critic Edward Freiberger and his involvement in the Forty Club, a local Dining Society. Many of the letters were sent to Freiberger by actors, including William Winter, George Kinnon, and Mabel Barrison. Also included is a large folder of Scheetz’s own research and correspondence related to the materials.

Most manuscripts collections at the Georgetown University Booth Family Center for Special Collections are open to researchers; however, restrictions may apply to some collections. Collections stored off site require a minimum of three days for retrieval. Biographical / Historical

Edward Freiberger (1857-1917) was a journalist and theater critic with the Chicago Herald and Inter Ocean. He was a founding member of the 40 Club, a Chicago Dining Society and served on their board.
