Biographical / Historical

Jean Overton Fuller (7 March 1915-8 April 2009) was a British writer most famous for her book Madeleine (1952), which tells the story of her friend and former neighbor, British Special Operations Executive agent Noor Inayat Khan. In addition to this work, Fuller was a published poet and wrote a number of biographies of poets including Percy Bysshe Shelley, Algernon Charles Swinburne and Victor Benjamin Neuberg, as well as author and politician Sir Francis Bacon. She also had a keen interest in theosophy, spiritualism and the occult: in the 1980s Fuller penned a biography of the occultist and co-founder of the Theosophical Society, Helena Petrovna Blavatsky, and she was a regular contributor to the “Theosophical History” journal. Like her mother, Fuller was a trained artist, and both exhibited work and published as a book illustrator.
