Scope and Contents
Two documents recording the conveyance of land in Harrington near Liverpool between merchants Thomas Flahavan and Thomas Wilson via lease and release. The lease is dated June 17th and the release June 18th, 1796. Signed, stamped, and sealed in wax.

Biographical / Historical
Thomas Flahavan (d. 1807) was a naturalized American citizen, part of a large Irish Catholic family who settled in the colonies before the American Revolution. Thomas and his brother John went into partnership as investors in several privateering enterprises out of Philadelphia in 1779. Following John’s death at sea in 1783, Thomas formed the firm of Flahavan and Willcox with his brother-in-law Mark Willcox.
