Davidge & Wright Ledger, 1816 - 1829
Scope and Contents
A ledger or account book belonging to prominent Baltimore physicians John Beale Davidge and Thomas H. Wright, and containing alphabetical entries for each patient with notes indicating payment for services from November 1816 through 1819. Following the main ledger are further notes including lectures given by the physicians through 1829. Bound in brown reverse calf with a blind-tooled border on both covers. “D & W” is blind stamped on the back cover alongside “David & Wright” written in a cursive script; “Davidge & Wright 1817” is written on the front. Title on spine in red leather with gold stamping and tooling. Curatorial materials collected by Scheetz are also included.

Biographical / Historical
John Beale Davidge (1768-1829) was a noted American surgeon and anatomist, co-founder of the University of Maryland Medical College. Thomas H. Wright (dates unknown) was also a Baltimore-based physician and researcher.
