Scope and Contents
Materials from the personal papers of British industrialists and politicians Thomas and Richard Potter, including 6 pieces of correspondence, one legal document concerning Richard’s entitlement to a freehold in Chester, and two loose sets of papers used as a diary by Thomas. The majority of the letters are between the Potters and a John Seddon.

Most manuscripts collections at the Georgetown University Booth Family Center for Special Collections are open to researchers; however, restrictions may apply to some collections. Biographical / Historical
Thomas (5 April 1774 – 20 March 1845) and Richard (1778–1842) Potter were British industrialists and founding members of the Manchester-based radical non-conformist Liberal group known as the Little Circle. Thomas was later the first mayor of Manchester, and Richard Liberal MP for Wigan.
