Prince of Wales Scrapbook, 1924
Scope and Contents
A leatherbound scrapbook with embossed gilt title “The Visit of H.R.H. the Prince of Wales, K.CG., K.C., to the E. & S. CWS, Ltd., London, March 7th, 1924” containing various labeled news clippings related to the future Edward VIII’s visit to English and Scottish Co-operative Wholesale Societies. Accompanying the scrapbook are 15 black and white press photographs of the Prince’s visit to London,including images of his arrival, the waiting crowds, the Prince at lunch, and at a tea factory.

Biographical / Historical
Edward VIII (Edward Albert Christian George Andrew Patrick David; 23 June 1894 – 28 May 1972) was King of the United Kingdom and the Dominions of the British Empire, and Emperor of India, from 20 January 1936 until his abdication in December of that same year. He held the title of Prince of Wales from June 23rd, 1910 until his ascension to the throne in 1936; following his abdication he became the Duke of Windsor.
