Edmeston Family Estate, 1765 - 1811
Scope and Contents
Approximately 300 handwritten papers and documents relating to the Edmeston family, namesake of the town of Edmeston in Otsego County, New York. Materials include ledger sheets, notes, legal documents such as leases, conditions of sale, marriage settlements, and legal letters regarding property owned by the Edmeston family in Waterford, Ireland. Documents and letters were sent from Ireland, London, Berwick-upon-Tweed in Scotland, and several other places in the United Kingdom, and constitute legal conversation between William, Robert, Andrew, John, and Mary Edmeston, as well as multiple solicitors and lawyers. Dated between 1765 and 1811.
