Scope and Contents

The Recordings series contains a large number of recordings featuring compositions and performances by Noel Da Costa, as well as other composers and performers, including his contemporaries like Coleridge Taylor Perkinson, Hale Smith, and Howard Swanson, and his students, like Gregg Bendian and Nkeiru Okoye. Many of the recordings are unidentified; listed here are recordings that have been identified as performances of Noel Da Costa's compositions and performances by Noel Da Costa, with occasional recordings by others collected by Da Costa. Media represented in the collection include 1/4" open reel audio tape, standard cassette tapes, LP records, and fragile test pressings from the recording/manusfacturing process.

Conditions Governing Access

Most manuscripts collections at the Georgetown University Booth Family Center for Special Collections are open to researchers; however, restrictions may apply to some collections. Collections stored off site require a minimum of three days for retrieval. For use of all manuscripts collections, researchers are advised to contact the Booth Family Center for Special Collections in advance of any visit.
