Scope and Contents

From the Collection:

The collection consists of promotional materials and other ephemera related to the National Book Awards. It includes press kits (1959, 1971-1973), programs (2001, 2011), publicity items related to Saul Bellow's novel Mr. Sammler's Planet (1969-1970), a signed broadside copy of Mary Lee Settle's National Book Award acceptance speech (1978), and a set of National Book Award medallion stickers (2023).

The collection also contains a handbook titled "Writers in Indian Country: A Handbook for Author Residency Programs with Native American Students" (2005), with two letter signed by program officials to the poet and educator Michael Collier.
