Series 3: Finland - Memoir - Research Files and Book Drafts, 1946 - 1982

Scope and Contents

This series contains material amassed by Ylitalo for the research and writing of his memoir concerning his diplomatic work in Finland in the late 1940s. His book is entiled, "Ylitalo: American" (Helsinki: Otava, 1982). Ylitalo's memoir was published in Finnish, but it has not been published in English yet. The Georgetown University Library Special Collections owns a published copy of Ylitalo's memoir in its Rare Book Collection. In this series, U.S. State Department telegrams, correspondence, and reports regarding Finland in the late 1940s are interspersed with pages from the drafts of his memoir.

Conditions Governing Access

Most manuscripts collections at the Georgetown University Booth Family Center for Special Collections are open to researchers; however, restrictions may apply to some collections. Collections stored off site require a minimum of three days for retrieval. For use of all manuscripts collections, researchers are advised to contact the Booth Family Center for Special Collections in advance of any visit.
