Scope and Contents
Memo from the Hessisches Staatsministerium (Ministry of State, Hesse) dated 1947-06-07 by Robert Werner reporting on political reeducation at the internment camp at Darmstadt that was initiated on March 1 that year; a memo by Isenstead dated 1947-12-02 to various ICD detachments regarding the "Munich Brief", an appeal by Bavarian Minister for Food and Argiculture Dr. Josef Baumgartner and the president of the Bavarian Farmers Association Dr. Rothermel regarding the distribution of potatoes by Bavarian farmers; an essay by John H. Hildring titled "What is Our Purpoose in Germany?" (1948); memo to Isenstead from Donald T. Shea dated 1948-04-30, with attached transcript of an article from the Atlantic Monthly magazine regarding American intelligence services; an undated draft memo by Isenstead to the Land Director of Bavaria regarding "The Food Crisis and the Munich Theaters"; memo dated 1948-06-30 regarding inspections of Jewish cemeteries where desecrations had been reported; memo dated 1948-10-25 regarding the reaction of Bavarian press to General Lucius Clay's lifting of the temporary stay of execution for 110 prisoners at the Landsberg convicted of war crimes in the Dachau tribunal.
